Moltes coses!

He estat dos dies sense internet i no vaig poder-ho seguir durant la diada.

Ha estat completament màgic i únic!

Avui ho tornaré a intentar i avui té pinta que hi tornarà a haver sort! Ja us explicaré! ;)

No he retocat el color de les fotos, per que us pogueu fer una idea del k vaig veure.
I hadn't retouched the colors of those pictures so you can see more or less how it really was.

XD

XD)

---------------------------------------------------------------------

There is so much to explain ant few time to explain it!

The first paragraph talks about the Catalan Way, a 400km long human chain that crossed all our country, Catalonia. It was a passific demonstration in order to catch the attention of the world in the politic matter that we have with Spain from who we want to split in a friendly and pacific way.

We did achieve this international attention, I don't know if you heard something about but plenty of newspapers and TV News all over the world explained it to their lectors. I hope the world start to pay attention to this process, because we are not kidding, and we are sure about what we are asking. We want to be an independent country in order to finish with the oppressive relation that we have with Spain in matters of culture and economy. We are sick and tired, and we are saying enough!

If you want to know more about it:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/spain/10303306/400000-person-human-chain-stretching-250-miles-for-Catalan-independence.html

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/sep/11/catalans-join-hands-human-chain-independence-spain

Next paragraph, talks about the Northern Lights that I had finally been able to see two nights ago!
It started being very soft. I was kind of disappointed, I was expecting something more. But then suddenly the sky exploded! It was crazy! Amazing! Something magic!

Next day I almost did a sell of some of my pictures to a group of Colombian people. But finally we couldn't close the deal because the had to leave... I will try to meet them again today! :)

Yesterday also, I took a bath in the hot springs, under the rain at Autumn in Alaska! Unbelievable!

Today I did a little hike around the forest surrounding the hot springs, and I could find a beaver nest and the mess they caused flooding the whole forest! XD

Finally after the hike I visited an ice museum! Only for the work they did there it was more than worth it! So curious too!

And that's a fast summary of what happened for the last 2 days! And today more! Because it seems that we will have more Northern Lights tonight! :D

Safari in Denali National Park

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Yesterday I went to a Safari. I visited the Denali National Park!

Denali is the other name for wich is know the mount McKinley, the summit of North America.

Is such a huge mountain that it creates its own weather. Most of the times is covered by clouds. Yesterday we were so lucky and we could see it for the most part of our trip!

A part of that impressing mountain, the park is an amazing natural place, where you can only access by bus to protect the wild life of the park and create the minor impact possible. Those buses are full of hikers an tourist, unfortunately this time I was in the second group! :)

Tourist always made me laugh with his movements in group to get all the same pictures! Yesterday i was competing with them to get pictures of the bears, mooses, caribous, ships and any kind of animal. Everytime that anyone saw something you only have to shout and the bus driver stops the bus and everyone run to the window! So fun! XD

Here you are a little sample with some of the pictures I took! ;)

2nd day into the wild!

Ahir vaig fer uns 500km aprox.

Així que ahir vaig preparar-ho tot i me'n vaig anar a dormir!

Serà molt interessant,  espero veure glaciars, animals, paisatges increïbles i fer una curiosa visita a aquest assentament miner!

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Yesterday I did about 500km. I woke up early, and after update the blog and buy some stuff I needed I hit the road!
I did so much km that I passed the entrance of the Denali National Park.

The first part of the day was through some monotonous and not so interesting roads. But then everything changed! Once surrounding the Denali National Park, the landscape was amazing! The weather was not the best one, but the sun could finally make it while I was there! So I was so lucky!

Actually, one of the reasons because I made so much km, is because I was trying to catch some clear skies on the horizon. Finally I caught them, and when every thing was set for the first pictures, in about half an hour the clouds covered everything! So unfortunately, judge by yourself with the picture above! :S

So I got everything ready for another night in the hostel! This time, I bought a blanket, and I spent such a great night there!

Taking avantage that i woke up in Fairbanks (the biggest city in the interior of Alaska) I went to the tourist point, where they told me lots of things to do, places to visit and the best advices to face the next weeks! So I had been able to plan the next few days in advanced.

Seems likely, that today I will head back to Denali wher I will spend the night, and tomorrow I will take a bus that will bring me to an historical town from the golden rush times. In that trip in theory, I should be able to see glacier, wild life and amazing landscapes!

On Tuesday taking advantage of a very convenient northern lights' forecast (yes, there is something such a Northern lghts forecast! XD http://www.gi.alaska.edu/AuroraForecast/Alaska/2013/09/11 ), I will go to a place 20 miles from Fairbanks where I had been told is a good place to see them.

And on Wednesday, tahat the Northern Lights forecast is even better I will head top Chena Hot Sprrings, where appart of hot springs, there is also a ice museum and it's told to be such a great place to see the Northern lights too.

I will cross my fingers in to have better weather next days! By now it is still raining!

Finally, I have no one taking pictures of me in that trip yet, so I will upload a "selfie" to prove you that I am still in one piece! ;)

Well, see you soon! Have fun!

Primer dia a Alaska!

Quin primer dia!

My Alaskan home! Pretty cool isn't it?¿ ;)
Pensava, doncs el vaig a tornar i faig autoestop, o busco busos!

Estava tot tancat, i m'hi he colat. He fet nit allà tranquil·lament, i al matí he passat per recepció des d'on us escric, a pagar.

De moment ja m'he llevat plovent i no te pinta d'amainar...

---------------------------------------------------------

What a first day! First of all, once in Anchorage we had to wait for an hour in the flight because there wasn't any hangar free. Finally we left the flight, and ahead of me there was 12 hours of stand by until I got the car. I was willing to go to see Anchorage, but it was raining a lot and so windy too... So I wait in the airport, sleeping, connected on internet, chatting with people.

I was lucky that I couldn't go out for tourism, Anchorage is not the prettiest city in the world! Its like a chain of industrial anc commercial centers, at least as far I had seen. Gorgeous!

Later I went to rent the car, and I had plenty of troubles with my credit cards, they were not working... I had to call the bank, and after a lot of troubles, with the patience and support of the man of the car rental company, we finally made it! But the adventure was just starting!

After a whole year without driving, with a different road system, and with an automatic car that I had never drove before I had to spent 2 hours turning around a gas station just to get used to the car!
I don't want to know what the gas station workers were thinking about me! XD

I was feeling so out of place, and with the fucking car that was braking wild without any control! I was afraid just to think about the moment that I should step out on the road! :S
There had a time that i had even thinking in alternatives for the car! Hitchhiking, busses... I was thinking in coming back to the office and give them the car back! But i hadn't, and after some time i get completely used to it! And now everything is under control! Don't worry about anything that now everything goes smoothly!

After this hell, I went to buy some food and water, and I headed up to Fairbanks. I don't know how many km I did, but plenty of them for sure, when I find a lake where I planned to spend the night, and seemed a perfect spot for starting to take pictures! By then the rain was gone, and it seemed that I was going to have my first starred night! But it wasn't!

Just minutes after the sunset, and when everything was set to start with the photo session, it turned cloudy again! So I decided to go to sleep in a place with more people, because I was in the middle of nowhere!
You can imagine me, in the middle of a rainy night, trying to look for a place to spend the night. There was a little town that I remember passing by, but it should be passed long ago because I couldn't find it!
Luckily I find a campsite, that by then it was closed, where I had been able to snick into and spend the night there.

This morning I passed by the office of the campsite from where I am writing you, and I paid my bill.

And that was my first day in Alaska! Pretty intense isn't it?¿ Lets see what the second holds for me! By now it is raining again and it's not likely to stop...

Today I will maybe be sleeping in the Denali National Park, next to the Mount McKinley! Let's what I find there and if the weather improve!

Well that's all, big hug and see you soon!

Ready for Alaska!

Encara no m'ho crec.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am writting from the Sea-Tac the Airport of Seattle. This place is synonym of great trips. It was the place where I start the trip to New York, and it is the place where today I am starting the trip to Alaska!

I still don't believe that this is happening. But little by little this feeling of: - Who the hell told me to go there... - is invading me with a mixure of exitement and nervous. I am really looking forward to to be on the car and start this amazing road trip through the wild!

To keep you updated I'll explain you the planning of the trip, that may vary at any point and for any reason as usually!

Tomorrow at noon I am toking the car from Anchorage and I will spent the time needed to get some food and thinks that I will need for the next days. Once I have everything ready, i'll be able to start to drive direction to Fairbanks.

In my way there, I'll be stopping at any interesting point I'll find. One of them is the Denali National Park place where I'll find Mount McKinley. I am not going to climb it. Not this time. Don't worry! hahaha

Once in Fairbanks on the 14th, I'll meet Sunny a friend that is joining me for the last part of the trip.
With her we will be heading north, to the Arctic Circle, we will may be spend a night there, and then we will come back to Fairbanks. Because this road may be dangerous if we go all the way north to the Arctic Ocean. We thought that there is nothing up there worth taking that risk.

After this little trip, we will come back to Fairbanks, as I said, and then South-East to Tok where we will turn and head to Valdez. Then we will need to decide, and the main idea is to to go to Homer, a town settled in a nice peninsula just under Anchorage where we had been told that is a awsome place full of glaciers!

All along the trip we will be trying to hunt Northern Lights and starring skies. That's the idea, but it may be complicated because of the clime and other factors that scape our control. So please don't be disappointed if finally i couldn't took any good picture of them Trust me that I would be the first and more disappointed.
The time of the year is the right one, I will spend there 23 days so it's plenty of time to try to see them, and I'll head as north as possible because the options also increase. The camera will be ready, and the fingers crossed! That's all i can do in order to see them! :)

And that's the plan! I hope everything goes alright and we get good pictures that I will be able to share with you if I find any coffee shop with wifi along the way!

Big hugs to everyone and let the trip begin! :)

The place I used to live!

Avui dia d'absoluta tranquilitat.

Molt bona gent! :)

-----------------------------------------------------

Today is a really relaxing day. The first after some crazy weeks of work and getting ready for the trip.I really needed!

And taking advantage of the quietness, today I'll show you the place where I used to leave for the last 2 months. I hadn't find the moment of taking some pictures yet, and last day after packing my luggage, I finally took them.

And those were my awesome flatmates, Joe and Bibian! Really nice people! :)

Via Catalana Vancouver / Catalan Way in Vancouver

Si us plau, no ens falleu a casa i ompliu tots els trams, de Portbou a Alcanar!

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today we had a tiny demonstration in Vancouver as a prelude of the September the 11th (Our National Day, also known for another sad and unfortunate historical event).

What is going to happen in Catalonia next September 11th, is that Catalan people will be holding hands all over the country from north to south, in a 400km long human chain.

If that's not impressive enough, there had been Catalan people in more than 90 different cities all over the world, being the one in London the most crowded with about 800 people, and the one in the Great Wall of China the more original.

"As a historical note, in 1989 within the soviet union, people hold hands all over three countries (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania) about 600km that leaded to the independence of those three countries, and the collapse, 2 years later, of the Soviet Union."

The aim of Catalan Way is to make even more visible that Catalan people wants to split from Spain or at least want to be consulted about it, always in a democratic, pacific and friendly way.

For those who doesn't know about it, in Spain there are more cultures other than the Spanish. There are bilingual regions that has their own culture, traditions and languages.

And Catalonia tired of being systematically stepped on our culture, our language, our economy, our resources, and our human rights by the Spanish Government; decided to step forward (as I said before) in a pacific, democratic and friendly way for our country, rights, culture, economy, and future asking firmly to at least be consulted about if we rather prefer to be or not an independent country.

This right had been forbidden to us until the date, and we are trying as hard as we can to be heard by any other country more democratic than Spain; where, we can not forget that not so many years ago we had a military ultra right wing dictatorship who forbid, beside many other things, any language and cultural expression other than the Spanish ones. Unfortunately some of their thoughts has still some roots in some sectors of the Spanish society.

So please people all over the world, help us to spread our claim. This Catalan Way is our scream for help! Catalonia is not Spain! Help us to be the next country in Europe!

Thank you so much in advanced!

PS.

Once again, and always talking about Catalan politics, the post in English is not a translation from the Catalan one, as it use to be on every other occasion.
Sometimes is more important to explain for understanding, than the literal translation of empty words for a person that doesn't know about the political context of our country.
